The Khulna water supply system established in 1921 with a SWTP having capacity of 900 m3/day. In 1960, DPHE started construction of deep production tube wells and operating water supply system in Khulna city. In 1990, DPHE handed over Water Supply System to Khulna City Corporation (KCC). With a view to expand & improve the services of water supply for the Khulna city, Government of Bangladesh established Khulna Water Supply and Sewerage Authority on March 2, 2008 under article 3 of WASA Act 1996.
